GNFS to take delivery of 24 fire tenders The Ghana National Fire Service, GNFS, will soon take delivery of 24 fire tenders for onward distribution to communities currently without one. The Service will also commission fire tenders that have been abandoned for some time now. The Chief Fire Officer, Dr. Albert Brown Gaisie, who said this when he commissioned a new Fire Station at Ada, indicated that this is to equip personnel of the Service with more logistics to enable them to work effectively to ensure absolute public safety. He noted that the Government is committed to adequately resourcing personnel and called for support from stakeholders. In view of this, he challenged the fire personnel to adopt strategies and contingency measures to prevent the occurrence of fire instead of sitting comfortably in their offices waiting to respond to fire outbreaks. The Ada District Fire Officer, Assistant Divisional Officer Philemon Buabeng, gave a brief history of the establishment of the Ada Fire Station and enumerated some challenges they are confronted with. The Assistant Director of the Ada District Assembly, Abdul Latif Ameen, commended the Ada fire personnel for the excellent services they are offering the community and its environs. He however lamented the rampant fire outbreaks in the Country in the past few years and appealed to shareholders to help in financing preventive measures in fire fighting since it is a shared responsibility.
