Petroleum Exploration and Production Bill to replace PNDC Law 84 The status of the Petroleum Exploration and Production Bill which is before Parliament will effectively replace PNDC Law 84 of the Petroleum Act and strengthen local content participation as well as ensure good management of revenue accrued from the oil and gas production. The Vice Chairman of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Mines and Energy and MP for Damongo, Adam Mutawakilu, made this known to Radio Ghana in Koforidua. He said the bill contains 94 clauses subjected to Parliamentary scrutiny. Alhaji Mutawakilu said domestic supply, entitlement and royalties are key aspect of the bill. On the issue of consultation, he said, adequate request has been sent to stakeholders like Environmental Protection Agency, GNPC, Oil and Gas Companies, Ministry of Petroleum and Attorney Generals Department. He said local ownership with requisite qualification is paramount. According to him, fiscal element and clause 10 of the bill is subjected to transparency and accountability.
