African governments challenged to prioritize Agriculture to guarantee food security. The Deputy Minister for Food and Agriculture in charge of Crops, Dr. Ahmed Yakubu Alhassan has challenged African governments to recognize and prioritize agriculture as the most pragmatic means to address the problems of food insecurity and rural poverty on the continent. This is in line with the African Union setting the year 2025 to eliminate all forms of hunger from the continent. Dr.Alhassan, gave the advice at the opening of a Regional Conference of the West Africa Agricultural Productivity Programme, WAAP, at Fumesua near Kumasi in the Ashanti region. GBC
