PAC Identifies Flaws In Local Gov’t & Rural Development 2011-2013 Reports Revenue unaccounted for, payment of unearned salaries, purchases not routed through stores, payment without supporting evidence were some of the infractions that occurred during the 2011, 2012 and 2013 audit years at departments under the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development. These came up at the Public Accounts Committee sitting on Wednesday when officials led by the Deputy Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, Emmanuel Kwodwo Agyekum appeared before the Committee. Most of the infractions happened at the Department of Parks and Gardens, Birth and Death Registry and the Local Government Secretariat. Responding to the queries by the MP for Atwima Mponua Isaac Asiamah, the Deputy Minister Kwodwo Agyekum said some of the monies have been recovered. The Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee Kweku Agyeman Manu urged the Ministry to report cases to the Police to assist in recovering monies that have gone to individuals who are refusing to pay back to the State Coffers.
