26th February, 2016 The Daily Graphic lauds President John Mahama for the innovative approach in his address to parliament. The paper says President Mahama's description of the innovations as evidence based learning by showcasing the achievement of his government across the country is commendable. It however notes that the fight against corruption will not yield the desired results if there is the perception that culprits are protected. The Graphic therefore calls on government to work hard to gain the confidence of the people in the execution of its programmes and policies. The Ghanaian Times notes that this year's general election will be moved from the widely accepted December 7 to a date in November. The paper thinks the move is likely after the Electoral Reform Committee tabled a proposal suggesting the first Monday of November in an election year. The paper says the reason behind the change of date is to enable the EC to organise a run-off in case no candidate secures an outright majority in the first round. The Times is however concerned about the delay in settling on the date, eight months into the elections. It therefore advocates these changes be made on time to accommodate all the challenges that come along with holding an election run-off. GBC
