92 cases of pneumococcal meningitis reported - GHS The Ghana Health Service says it has so far recorded 32 deaths and 92 reported cases of Pneumococcal meningitis in three regions. They are Brong Ahafo, Ashanti and Northern Region. Speaking to GBC's Radio Ghana, the Head of Disease Surveillance of the Service, Dr. Badu Sarkodie, said surveillance has been heightened, while public education and sensitization have been prioritised. He said all is being done to reduce the rate of infection. Dr. Sarkodie said Ghana has not reached the threshold of administering vaccines per WHO requirements. GBC
