Police arrests 20 people for alleged involvement to assassinate chief of Nyinahin 

The police have arrested about 20 people for their alleged involvement in a plot to assassinate the chief of Nyinahin in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region.

The suspects are being kept at the Regional Police Headquarters for further interrogation.  

Meanwhile calm has returned to the town. There is heavy security presence in the town following the arrest of the suspects. 

One person believed to be the ring leader of the group which besieged the chief's palace with deadly weapons in an attempt to assassinate the chief was killed in an exchange of fire and is yet to be identified. 

The body has been deposited at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi for autopsy. 

The District Chief Executive, Samuel Yeboah is happy there is new peace and stability in the town. 

He warned trouble makers to respect the rights of the people and said the law will deal ruthlessly with anyone caught disturbing the peace.
