21th January, 2016 After Wednesday’s organised labour demonstration, the Daily Graphic thinks it is time to jaw jaw. The paper says government which is the employer must meet the employee half way by putting the issues on the table to seek solutions. Though the paper does not dispute the need for demonstrations which it says are necessary and accepted all over the world, it says the time for proper and action oriented dialogue is now. After all, all that Ghanaians desire is a country where people can take good care of themselves and their families after paying reasonable tariffs. The paper hopes the outcome of the meeting between the two parties will end in a win win situation. The Ghanaian Times writes on the burden of distributing electricity across the country and the need to provide security cover for ECG vendors. These vending stations according to the Times have been of tremendous assistance to both customers and the ECG, but they face hostilities from customers on a regular basis. The Times says the vendors face relentless attacks from consumers who are angry about the recent increase in electricity tariffs. This, the Times believes must push ECG to provide adequate security to protect those vendors generating revenue for the company. GBC
