Military deployed to man unapproved routes at Paga and Bawku borders The general atmosphere at the country’s frontiers particularly the borders of Paga and Bawku can be described as normal following the recent terrorist attack last Saturday in neighbouring Burkina Faso. The tragedy which resulted in the death of 28 people had to an extent created some level of tension and anxiety among the Ghanaian public especially those living along the borders of Northern Ghana. In the face of this public apprehension, security operatives have heightened their operations with enough military deployment maning the numerous unapproved routes at the Paga and Bawku borders. Speaking to Radio Ghana’s Isaac Asare, the MCE for Bawku Municipal, Issahaku Bukari and the DCE for Kassena-Nankana West, George Nontera, outlined various strategies meant to ensure adequate security at the borders. According to them, security is on high alert and that residents are required to remain vigilant in exposing people with suspicious characters. GBC
