Organised Labour Set For Nationwide Demonstration Today Organised Labour is set for a nationwide demonstration today to register worker's displeasure with the high levels of utility tariffs, taxes and the Energy sector Levy Act. Government has increased water by 67 point two percent and electricity by 59 point two percent. It has also introduced the energy sector levy which saw the prices of fuel rise by around 28 percent. But Organised Labour has kicked against this, arguing that, it will cripple the finances of workers and has therefore scheduled a demonstration Today. Government, on Monday, at a News Briefing by the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations, said it can only review the utility tariffs, but not the energy sector levy. This the Secretary General of the TUC, Kofi Asamoah has described as unacceptable and will definitely go on the demonstration as planned. Labour is however, ready to sit with government on the matter if it should call for a meeting today. Meanwhile, Organised Labour has warned political parties to stay off today’s demonstration. GBC
