Deputy Health Minister urges contractors to speed up work on Tamale Teaching Hospital projects The Deputy Minister of Heath, Dr. Victor Asare Bampoe has urged contractors working on the second phase project of the Tamale Teaching Hospital to speed up work to help reduce pressure on the existing few facilities. The project which include, a state of the art mortuary, new born care unit, surgical block, maternity block and oxygen treatment center is expected to complete in July 2018. This came to light when the Deputy Sector Minister paid a working visit to the Hospital today to inspect the project and familiarize with the staff of the Hospital. According to the Dr. Bampoe, the project is line with government`s efforts to improving effective health service delivery in the country. He said funding has been procured to provide equipment for the facilities when completed. He revealed that, preliminary assessment from the Regional Heath Directorate indicates that, the acute face of the yellow Fever epidemic outbreak in the West Gonja District is over. Dr. Bampoe said so far Public education and other adequate measures have been in place to prevent further outbreak. The Chief Executive Officer of the Tamale Teaching Hospital, Dr. Prosper Akanbong said despite the numerous infrastructural challenges facing the hospital, it has been very instrumental in ensuring quality health service delivery as a tertiary facility. He said the hospital is currently facing inadequate staff accommodation called on government to come to their aid. GBC
