Experts Call For Review Of New Media Legislative Instrument A renowned media advocate, Professor Kwami Karikari has added his voice to the raging debate on the new LI 2224 which seeks to regulate media content to sanitise the airwaves. Speaking on GBC'S Current Affairs Program Talking Point, Professor Karikari said the LI is shrouded in some sort of confusion and must be reviewed to deal with the growing misunderstanding. Prof Karikari cited sections on content regulation and content guide which he said if not dealt with will amount to censorship of the media. Also on the program was the Executive Director of GIBA, Akwasi Agyemang. He said the Association is not against regulations. However the new LI contradicts the laws of Ghana. Mr. Agyeman said despite the numerous explanations by the NMC, the Association will still seek further interpretation at the Supreme Court. Executive Secretary of the NMC, George Sarpong explained what the new LI seeks to do and gave two reasons why the content guide is important. GBC
