Ghana's water needs to hit five billion cubic metres by 2020   

The Ghana Water Company Limited GWCL says the country's water demand by 2020 will be five point 13 billion cubic meters.  

The Chief Manager of the GWCL, Richard Appiah Otoo, disclosed this in Accra at a symposium on the state of Ghana's Water Resources.  

The event forms part of activities to mark the 50th anniversary of the GWCL.  

Mr. Otoo said the company between 2005 and 2014 systematically monitored water resources to give a more accurate picture on the quality of water in the country.   

He stated that the water quality monitoring process across the country covered 32 river stations, nine reservoirs and lake stations.
