Ghanaians Ought To Be Proud Of NDC's Achievements - President Mahama 

President Mahama has met with fishing communities at Elmina in the Central Region with the assurance that government will continue to support the fisheries sub-sector. He asked the people to remain united and forge ahead.  

He said the government has adopted a number of technologies to help sustain the country's sea fish stock. These include vessel information tracking systems, VITS and fish finding devices.  
He said the VITS will enable government to monitor activities of fishermen in unauthorised areas.

President Mahama assured the people that government has begun the distribution of three thousand outboard motors to fishermen at 30 percent discount.  

He said one thousand have so far been distributed, and the rest will soon be ready for distribution.

President Mahama recounted the beginning of the cordial relations between the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government and all the fishing communities in the country.

Meanwhile, the Chief of Elmina, Nana Kojo Conduah has appealed to President Mahama to enforce the ban on pair trawling and other illegal fishing activities at sea to enable fishers in Elmina to continue having bumper catch. 

He again asked the President to impress upon the Ministry of Fisheries and Acquaculture Development to increase the number of outboard motors allocated to fisher folk. 

He also added his voice to calls on the government to increase the supply of premix fuel.
