Massive food imports dampen Ghana's status as agricultural nation

The Vice-President of the Association of Ghana Industries' Agriculture sector, Fatima Ali-Mohammed says per the current statistics, Ghana's Food Production levels have taken a down-turn despite efforts by government and the hardworking farmers. 

She told Radio Ghana that it is a shame that Ghana which is supposed to be an agricultural nation should still be importing rice, beans, sugar and maize as well as poultry and dairy products. 

She believes urgent action needs to be taken to reverse the trend.

Mrs Ali-Mohammed called on all stakeholders to collaborate and speak with one voice on strategies and programmes to improve the sector.
