13 Ghanaian Pilgrims Reported Dead,  21 Missing In Mecca 

Ghana’s Hajj Committee is making frantic effort to gather information on the number of Ghanaian pilgrims injured in the stampede in Mecca last week. 

Already, 13 Ghanaian pilgrims have been confirmed dead. 

According to the National Hajj Committee which oversees the welfare of the Ghanaian pilgrims, five people died as a result of the stampede that claimed over 700 lives last week. 

The other eight deaths are however not related to the stampede.

Ghana’s High Commissioner to Saudi Arabia, Saeed Sinare said three Ghanaians have been found so far. Two are receiving treatment at the hospital while the other person has been brought to the Ghana camp in Mecca. Twenty-one Ghanainas are meanwhile missing. 

He said the High Commission staff are working around the clock to find their missing compatriots.
