Accra Court to decide on the fate of suspected gunman, Charles Antwi Today The Human Right Court will today, Monday August 31 rule on an application seeking to quash the conviction of President John Mahama’s failed assassin. Human rights Lawyer Francis Xavier-Sosu wants the court to set aside the sentencing of Charles Antwi who was slapped with a 10-year jail term. The State however, appears to be backtracking after it pushed for his sentencing following his confession. The Attorney General has filed documents seeking a review of the initial ruling. Relations and the Ghana Mental Health Authority insist Charles Antwi is mentally unwell and requires medical attention. Antwi was arrested when a member of the congregation of Assemblies of God Church in Accra, noticed his nervous and suspicious behavior during the church service. According toreports, a policeman and a member of the church escorted Antwi outside. The loaded and cocked pistol was found following a search on him. It was not immediately clear why he had carried the fully loaded gun into the church. President John Dramani Mahama and his family worship regularly at the Ringway branch of the Assemblies of God Church but were not present in church when the incident occurred. SOURCE: Starrfm
