Ghana Collaborating With International Security Agencies To Deal With Ghanaian ISIS Recruits Ghana is collaborating with the International Security Agencies to deal effectively with the issue of some Ghanaian youth joining the terrorist group ISIS. The recruits who are reported to use Burkina Faso and Niger as their entry points are believed not to be causing trouble. The National Security Coordinator, Yaw Donkor, disclosed this at a meeting with Executives of the Ghana Journalists Association and some Senior Journalists in Accra. Meanwhile. an International Relations Expert Dr. Alhaji Rashid Pelpou says, it is a worrying trend to hear that some Ghanaian youth are being recruited into the ISIS. Speaking to RAdio Ghana Dr. Pelpou said the drive is because the insurgent groups want to create an enclave with a radical and deadly vision. He said the material gain being reported on the social media is another motivating factor which is in the long run a hoax. He called on parents to take keen interest in how their children are trained. He cautioned the youth not to risk their lives for material gain. On the migration crisis, Dr. Pelpou said the Africa land is better with all the freedom to live freely. Ghanaian and African youth should desist from fearing poverty and work hard on their land to make life worth while. Also expressing his views on the recruitment of Ghanaians into ISIS, a Lecturer at the Centre for International Studies at the University of Ghana Legon, Dr. Ken Ahorsu says he is not that surprised at the confirmation by National security that some Ghanaian graduates are being recruited into Islamist Insurgent Organisations. He is of the view that the development of fundamental spirit in the youth has become global as a result of religious militancy. For him, it is important for parents to keep close watch on their children to know what they are doing and where their interest lies. Government also needs to review some of its social policy programmes to create jobs for the people. In a related development, a Muslim Scholar Shiek Aremeyaw Shiabu says there is an urgent need for serious scrutiny of the content of messages islamic scholars present on Radio and Television. Same must also apply to teachings in the mosques across the country. Speaking on UNIIQ'S Breakfast Drive with George Sappor, he said the various mosques are vulnerable because they are opened for all manner of muslim preachers who are most times not known. He added that for security reasons, now is the time to be worried about the current happenings with regards to young people joining militant groups. Yakub Shaib Abben of the Al-sunna group on his part says news of recruitment of Ghanaian youth into ISIS is very shocking. Speaking to Radio Ghana, Alhaji Abben said personally, he does not think it is just about money but religious fundamentalism. He said parents should play a lead role in moulding the conscience of their children GBC
