Speed up codification process on succession - Speaker

The Speaker of Parliament, Edward Doe Adjaho, has called on the National House of Chiefs to speed up the codification process it has begun on all customary laws and lines of succession applicable to the various traditional stools and skins in the country. 

This, he said will ensure stability, security and peace for national cohesion and development.  

Mr. Adjaho said experience has shown that in communities where traditions and chieftaincy procedures are upheld, they are less prone to chieftaincy conflicts or disputes.  

He also urged chiefdoms with chieftaincy challenges to dialogue and allow the rule of law to prevail rather than resorting to arms. 

The Speaker made this comments at this year's launch of Hogbetsotso-Za in Accra at which the rich Anlo tradition and culture were on display.
