Government Rolls Out Emergency Measures As Negotiations With GMA Stall Government has reiterated its stance of not negotiating conditions of service with doctors as long as they are on strike, which is illegal. According to the Minister of Health, Alex Segbefia, the Ghana Medical Association's action is against laid down negotiation principles, therefore government will only go back to the negotiation table when the doctors resume work. Mr. Segbefia stated this when he met the media in Accra to present government's position on the on-going strike and matters arising. The Health Minister spelt out a number of interventions being employed in the short term to mitigate the negative impact of the industrial action on the citizenry. Mr. Segbefia also advised the public not to abuse or threaten them, but was quick to add that the fundamentals of negotiations ought not be sacrificed at the expense of the general good of all. GBC
