EC Director reminds contesting candidates to comply by electoral laws The Ashanti Regional Director of the Electoral Commission Paul Boateng says it is against the electoral laws for candidates contesting the upcoming District Assembly elections to use colors of any political party. According to him any candidate found to have used colors similar to the any political party shall be dismissed. Speaking at a forum in Kumasi Mr. Boateng said the law has been applied on one such candidate in Kumasi. He reminded all the contesting candidates to comply with the rules and regulations governing the elections to make it free and fair. Mr. Boateng said it is also illegal for anybody to deface the poster of any candidate likewise; no one has the right to remove any poster pasted for public view. The Director noted that it is when the electoral commission has been notified before a wrongfully pasted poster could be removed. On electoral reforms, Mr. Boateng said the Commission has begun implementing some of the recommendations made by a committee to look into some electoral reforms made by the Supreme Court. He said some of them are administrative while those that need legislative backing are being worked out. GBC
