GES short of teachers in core subjects The Ghana Education Service, GES says the number of teachers handling Science, Mathematics and English at both basic and secondary levels are inadequate. Despite a number of scholarship schemes for teachers of these subjects to enrich their knowledge, teachers are not taking advantage to impact the quality of teaching. This is reflecting in the poor performance being recorded in these subjects year after year. The Acting Deputy Director General of GES, Stephen Adu made the observation at the maiden Teacher Improvement Awards Programme in Accra. He said more work needs to be done for teachers to be motivated to take up the scholarship scheme to enhance their competence to deliver. GBC
