Ashanti Region: GBC Holds Thanksgiving Service
 
Staff and management members of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, GBC, in the Ashanti Region on Sunday attended a thanksgiving church service at the Amakom Calvary Methodist Church in Kumasi to thank God for helping the Corporation through its 80 years of operation and 21 years of the Regional FM station, Garden City Radio. 

They sang and danced to some popular choruses and brass band music in appreciation of God for also seeing them through the period of the anniversary celebration. 

The occasion coincided with the church’s Boys’ and Girls’ Brigade Enrolment Service during which new members were admitted into the Brigade, while some were promoted to various ranks. 

In a sermon, the Amakom Methodist Circuit Superintendent, Very Reverend Samuel Badu Ayeboafo, expressed gratitude to God for the operations of GBC over the 80 year period, despite the Corporation's challenges. 

Very Rev Ayeboafo said if Ghana would trust in God, her socio-economic fortunes would change for the better. 

On the attitudes of the people, the Circuit Superintendent expressed regret that in spite of the fact that majority of Ghanaians belong to the Christian faith, there is very little to show in terms of exemplary lifestyles that should positively influence the social and moral fibre of the people. 

He therefore entreated Ghanaians to remain faithful to God by staying away from negative practices such as dishonesty, backbiting and hatred. 

Later at a reception at the premises of Garden City Radio, the Ashanti Regional Director of the Corporation, Samuel Kwatia, on behalf of the staff and management of GBC, made a presentation to some retired staff in appreciation of their long years of hard work and dedicated services to the Corporation. 

The beneficiaries include Akwasi Danquah Agyapong of the Human Resource Division, and Michael Budu Ainooson of the Accounts Department.
