Former VRA Boss files writ to stop GBC from sharing proceeds of TV licence with other institutions

A former Chief Executive of the Volta River Authority Charles Wereko Brobby, has filed a suit at the Fast Track High Court in Accra, seeking to restrain the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) from what he describes as “illegally” sharing TV Licence proceeds with the National Media Commission, NMC, Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association (GIBA) and the Attorney-General’s Department is attached to the suit, of the second, third and fourth respondents respectively in the case.

According to Dr Wereko Brobby, who is represented by Egbert Faibille Jnr. GBC, cannot share any money received by it with any other entity whether private or state-owned and all funds collected must be deposited in the bank accounts of GBC. Egbert Faibile is lawyer for Dr Wereko Brobby.

Meanwhile, GBC has received the writ of summons filed by the Plaintiff, Dr. Charles Wereko Brobbey. The Corporation said it is studying the reliefs sought in the writ and will respond appropriately.
