Animals and farmers compete for water along White Volta

Animal rearers and farmers along the White Volta in the Upper East Region are competing for land due to the effects of climate change. 

The clamour for land has intensified since streams forming tributaries of the White Volta have all dried up. 

A Lecturer with the Department of Community Development at the University of Development Studies, Asaah Mohammed, said the lives of farmers along the White Volta are in danger because of erratic rainfall due to climate change.
