Outdoor libraries coming to NY, Paris, Tel Aviv 

The New York Public Library has just opened its Outdoor Reading Room for the 2015 summer season. 

Several cities are offerings outdoor libraries this summer where you can soak up the sun and knowledge.

New York

The NYPL's Outdoor Reading Room can be found at the library's iconic main branch outside the Stephen A. Schwarzman Building on the Fifth Avenue plaza near 40th Street. Lounge chairs, tables and umbrellas in bright yellow -- with a mid-century design inspired by the 1970 Slim Aarons photo "Poolside Gossip" -- dot a patch of soybean turf where you can read librarians' recommendations, participate in book swaps, see author talks and enjoy visiting food trucks.

Open 10am to 7pm through July 17 except Sundays, July 3-4 and in case of rain.

Paris

In July and August, book lovers in the City of Light can head to the Berges de Seine to find the pop-up library Folio-sur-Seine, offering around 1,000 titles from science fiction to crime to books for kids. Offered in the 'ZZZ' space no. 1 around the Pont de la Concorde, on Tuesday-Thursday from noon to 7:30pm, Friday from noon to 9:30pm, Saturdays from 10am to 9:30pm and Sundays from 10am to 7:30pm.

Tel Aviv

The Israeli city in 2013 inaugurated a beach library scheme, providing books to those making use of the city's more than 13 kilometers of beaches. This year, Beach Library stations will be set up at Jerusalem Beach, Gordon Beach, Mezizim Beach and HaTzuk North Beach. Beaches are open through October 12.

In its inaugural edition, the project offered 500 books in English, Arabic, Russian, French and Hebrew.
