Appiah invites Asantehene to testimonial match

Former Black Stars Captain, Stephen Appiah has attributed the success of the Senior National Team during his tenure as Captain to the support and encouragement of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu anytime the team played a crucial match Kumasi.

Stephen Appiah said he will forever be grateful to Otumfuo Osei Tutu, who he has described as a key factor in his successful soccer career.

He expressed the sentiment when he called on the Asantehene at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi. 

The former Black Stars Captain had come to the Manhyia Palace to pay homage to the Asantehene.

Stephen Appiah will on the 27th of this month hang his boots with a Testimonial March at the Accra Sports Stadium after more than two decades of successful soccer career.

His visit to the Manhyia Palace was to thank the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu for his continued support to the Black Stars and especially when he was the Captain of the team.

It was also to formally invite Otumfuo Osei Tutu to his Testimonial March which will see him formally end his football career.

Stephen Appiah said other dignitaries invited to the match include Ghana’s two former Presidents, Jerry John Rawlings and John Agyekum Kufuor, the Chief Justice, Her Ladyship Georgina Theodora Wood and the National Chief Imam, Dr. Sheikh Nuhu Sharubutu.

Stephen Appiah said prior to his Testimonial March, a fund raising and dinner dance will be held at the Banquet Hall, State House on the 26th of this month, in support of his Foundation, to promote quality education and healthcare in the country.
