Transport Union meets today to review fares

The General Secretary of the GPRTU, Stephen Okudzeto says the current increase of petroleum prices has come as a surprise because they were not involved in the negotiation process.

Speaking to Radio Ghana, he said the union will meet today to deliberate on the increase and act accordingly. 

He said passengers should expect increases in transport fares.

Meanwhile, the Oil Retailers Association say they have no problem with the deregulation of petroleum products. 

Speaking to Radio Ghana, the President of the Association, Commodore Mensah said the move is a necessary evil because the price of crude has increased on the international market and that influenced the decision.

He said that the Association will not sit back and allow the Bulk Distribution Companies to fix the prices.
