GNFS swift intervention prevented fire disaster in Kumasi Swift intervention by personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service last night prevented what could have been another fire disaster in Kumasi. A tanker that had discharged fuel at a Unity Oil Filling Station at the Santasi round about fell on its side when it was about leaving the station to another retail outlet to discharge fuel. Almost all the fuel in the tanker leaked from the vehicle and begun spilling across the area. Quickly personnel of the Ghana National Fire Serivce were called in to protect the area from anybody making attempt to start fire. About 30 meters around the area were cordoned off to prevent cars and human traffic from entering the zone. The Police, army and other security agencies were brought in to enforce the directive as all the radio stations were also informed to break the news to the public. The situation was brought under control around 3am this morning but there were no casualties. GBC
