NPP Holds Primaries Today The New Patriotic Party, NPP is electing its parliamentary candidates today Saturday June 13 2015 for the 2016 general election. The Poll takes place between the hours of eight this morning and three in the afternoon. In line with article 6 (14) of the NPP Constitution, the Electoral College shall be members of the Constituency Executive Committee, all Electoral Area Coordinators, the Five executives at each Polling station, any Founding Member from the Constituency who is a signatory to the registration document of the Party at the Electoral Commission, five members of the Council of Elders and five Patrons from the Constituency. The party says only the Registers used for the 18th October Presidential Primaries will be used for the election. At Constituencies where at the close of nomination only one candidate filed, he or she is deemed to have been duly elected unopposed. The NPP calls on delegates, aspirants and members to conduct themselves in the spirit of party unity at the polling centers. Meanwhile, The Electoral Commission has dispatched all electoral materials to all the centres where the NPP will be holding its Parliamentary primaries tomorrow. Director of Elections of the Electoral Commission, Samuel Tetteh said the Commission is set to supervise the elections. In a related development the Police say they are ready to provide security as the NPP holds its Parliamentary primaries throughout the country. The elections will be held in more than 240 Constituencies. Ahead of the elections, there have been agitations following the disqualification of some aspirants. This compelled the party to suspend the elections in some of the constituencies pending the outcome of appeal hearings. Director of Public Affairs of the Police Service, Supt. Cephas Arthur says the Police are leaving nothing to chance. GBC
