Inadequate logistics hindering effective tackling of HIV/AIDS The lack of adequate medical resources and transport for referral cases have been identified as major challenges militating against the effective tackling of HIV and AIDS cases among prison inmates. According to a Monitoring and Evaluation Report by the Planned Parenthood Association of Ghana, PPAG, most of the infirmaries at the prisons lack sufficient drugs and other resources to treat the number of HIV positive inmates. Also, transporting inmates on a regular basis to the nearest hospital for proper care is challenging due to lack of funds. These findings came up during a meeting in Accra involving the PPAG, civil society groups, the Ghana Health Service and Regional Commanders of the Prisons Service in Accra. GBC
