President Mahama Tells Africans to Trumpet Continent's Success Stories
President John Mahama has encouraged Africans to tell the successes of the continent to the rest of the world as no one else will say it better.
Delivering the honorary keynote address at the Oxford-Africa Conference in the UK Friday, President Mahama said the world is now a global village hence Africans must take advantage to tell their stories in Technology, Politics, Business and Education.
President Mahama said “We must tell our own story of the Africa we know.” He gave the example of the technological development in Kenya where they are bridging the gap in the manufacturing sector and designing of phones.
He also cited the movie industry in Nigeria which he said can boast of one of the best movie industries in the world.
According to him, it is no mean achievement for Nigeria’s movie industry to place third as the most lucrative industry globally.
In the area of politics, President Mahama made mention of some famous and important people who have contributed to the democracy and making of the African history, indicating how he has learnt a great deal from their books and speeches.
Concluding, President Mahama called on Africans to constantly project the positive image of Africa.
“The world is literally at our finger tips. We must continue to take to Instagram, Facebook, Twitter. We must share, ping or blog our victory,” President Mahama noted.

President Mahama and other speakers will help delegates gain a deep understanding and awareness of the power and potential of an interconnected African continent.
Distinguished individuals who have spoken at the Oxford Union include Winston Churchill, Margaret Thatcher, Mother Teresa, Malcolm X and Henry Kissinger.
The theme for this 6th annual event is ‘A Continent on the Move: People, Politics and Business Across Borders.
