Confiscation of properties of drug dealers an effective tool for tackling drug trafficking

The Country Head, Financial Crime Compliance, of Standard Chartered Bank, Ben Ndego, has added his voice to calls for the confiscation of properties of drug dealers because it is an effective tool for tackling drug trafficking. 

According to him, the offenders have better resources in terms of assets stressing that when the dealer is jailed, the person is re-assured of his wealth therefore they are not bothered about going to jail. 

Mr. Ndego said this at a forum in Accra on tracking illegal proceeds of drug trade.
