President Mahama Promises To Take Action Against Judgement Debt Culprits

The Sole Commissioner on Judgement Debt, Justice Yaw Appau, has presented his report to President Mahama at Flagstaff House in Accra. 

Justice Appau, was sworn in October 2012, to investigate the dubious payment of huge amounts to undeserving persons.  

Presenting the 501 paged report, Justice Appau hoped recommendations made will be acted upon quickly. 

The President handed over the report to the Attorney General Marietta Appiah Brew-Oppong for action.

Receiving the Report, President Mahama promised to take action against judgement debt culprits.

He said the commission's sittings gave testimony of the rot in the system.

He said government has already taken steps to prevent the payment of some doubtful payments including one in which the Attorney General had to overturn the payment of over GH¢300 million to a plaintiff.

He thanked Justice Apau for the good work and also congratulated him on his nomination to the Supreme Court.
