Child Health Promotion Week Launched The Ghana Health Service says more than a quarter of babies under five in Ghana die within the first one month of birth due to diseases, of which infections top the list. Currently, about a third of deaths of new born births is caused by infections. The Ministry of Health has therefore launched this year’s Child Health Promotion week with special focus on preventing new born infections. The National Child Health Coordinator of the Ghana Health Service, Dr Isabella Sagoe Moses said with series of programmes to be held nationwide, it is hoped that these large numbers of neonatal deaths will be reduced drastically.
