Consumers of rice cautioned against deceit of rice dealers

The deceit of the Public by rice dealers has become major issue. 

Dealers either re-bag the local rice in foreign bags or mix the foreign rice with the local ones.  

Radio Ghana`s George Ankrah finds out from the Ghana Standards Authority what they are doing about the situation.  

The Public Affairs Director, Dr. Kofi Amponsah Bediako told Radio Ghana, that consumers need to be vigilant and support the Authority to stop the practice.

The Ghana Rice Inter-Professional Body says re-bagging of Rice is classified as re-branding and constitutes deceit of the public.  

The President of the Body, John Kennedy Imoro, said the Police are supposed to be vigilant as well as consumers to fight the fraudsters in the rice industry.  

Mr Imoro however described the situation as very dangerous and must be nib in the bud.
