NPP Begins Vetting Of Parliamentary Aspirants

The New Patriotic Party has deployed nine of its national officers to the regions to oversee the parliamentary primaries which begin on Tuesday. 

This was among many other decisions taken at an Emergency Steering Committee Meeting on Monday at the party's Headquarters in the absence of the both the National Chairman Paul Afoko and General Secretary Kwabena Agyepong. 

This was contained in a statement signed by the National Organiser of the party, John Boadu. 

Meanwhile, the National Co-ordinator of Nasara Club of the NPP, Abdulai Kamal Deen, has denied reports that they deliberately sidelined the Chairman and General Secretary from an Emergency Steering Committee meeting on Monday. 

The meeting was called by the first National Vice Chairman, Fredie Blay in the absence of the Chairman and General Secretary. 

According to Mr Kamal Deen, notices were served on all members but the Chairman could not attend because he was out of town. 

The General Secretary Kwabena Agyapong however said he had no knowledge of the meeting. 

Speaking to Radio Ghana, Mr Kamal Deen downplayed notions that these developments will split the party.
