Wenchi MCE urges workers to strategise on ways to improve productivity  


From the Wenchi in the Bono-Ahafo Region, Radio Ghana's Correspondent John Sam-Arthur reports that May Day saw Workers from the length and breadth of the Region converging at the Methodist park in Wenchi in their numbers for their day.  

As is the tradition the day started with a float by the workers through the principal streets of the town, amidst brass band music, the workers sung and danced, while displaying the usual placards.
 
This year some of the messages were; "Corruption is Mass murder, President do something", "Sunyani Airport is crying for development", "Will the bailout let us out" and "Teachers are your friends, "Quality education, the teachers concern as well as Teachers support FCUBE".  

Welcoming the gathering, the MCE for Wenchi, Hakim Dauda, urged workers to use the occasion to strategize on ways to improve productivity as well as engender industrial harmony.  

The March Past usual formed a key part of the celebration which brought in it work a lot of excitement.  

The VRA and GRIDCO, attracted loads of attention with shouts of Dumsor and away, greeting them.  

The Bono-Ahafo Regional Secretary,Joseph Kwame Ankamah read the GTUC  Secretary General's address. Which in part focused on the theme" 

A addressing the Energy Crisis, the role of organized labour." The Deputy Bono-Ahafo Regional Minister, Samuel Justice Adjei, in an address described the theme; "addressing the energy crisis, the role of organized labour, as appropriate.  

He assured the gathering that Government is aware of the adverse effects that the situation is having on production and is working around the clock to solve the problem.  

Prizes were presented to deserving workers and institutions.
