Ace broadcaster KKD still in police custody Ace Broadcaster KKD is still in the custody of the police while awaiting a directive from the AG's department on the next line of action. Tuesday, the alleged victim in the KKD rape saga withdrew the case against KKD. KKD has also issued an apology to the victim and her family as well as his family and the general public for his conduct. The Greater Accra Regional Police PRO, Afia Tenge told Radio Ghana that the AG's department has the authority to determine the twists of the case. A Gender Activist and a member of the Coalition on Gender Violence Legislation in Ghana, Adolf Awuku Bekoe, also thinks it is unfortunate that Miss Thompson has withdrawn the case. He says the current situation is a set back and can give room to impunity. Mr Bekoe recommends psychological treatment for the victim. A Psychotherapist Rev Dr Alphonse Amanor has cautioned the media to eschew statements that will create unnecessary discomfort for victims. He says the media seems to always feed on negativity, challenging that for once the media should shift the conventional paradigm from bad news to issues that can transform society for the better. Rev Dr Amanor says society must also not judge the young female and K K D, but rather show them love and compassion. He suggests that both consult with a clinical psychologist, psychotherapist or a counselor to overcome, in the case of the young female, her trauma, and for KKD to avoid the risk of an impulsive behaviour. Meanwhile, the truth of what really happened on the 27th of December between Ace Broadcaster KKD and the alleged rape victim Ewuraffe Orleans Thompson will never be known with the withdrawal of the case. But what effect will the withdrawal of the case have on the protection of the sexual rights of women in the country? Lawyer Maurice Ampaw thinks that the lack of interest and the subsequent withdrawal of the case is a blow to the protection of the sexual rights of women. He described the situation as unfortunate.
