Flooding in Malawi Kills 48, Leaves Thousands Displaced

Heavy floods in Malawi have killed forty-eight people and left twenty-three thousand displaced.

The Malawian President, Peter Mutharika has therefore declared ten out of twenty-eight districts in the country disaster zones.

Some of the victims were reported to have died when villages got flooded, while others died when their homes collapsed.

President Mutharika has appealed to the international community for assistance for the impoverished country.

Officials were unable to visit the affected areas due to continuing poor weather condition.
