Chiana: Traditional Authorities Ban Sale Of Alcoholic Beverages Traditional authorities in the Chiana Traditional Area of the Upper East Region have banned the sale and consumption of alcohol. The Traditional Council has also directed clan heads to eschew taking alcoholic drinks as part of a dowry process. It has also placed a ban on the use of a substance locally called “Acera”. This is to halt the increase in the abuse of alcohol and drugs in the Chiana Traditional Area as the canker is affecting the lives of the youth. The Paramount Chief of Chiana, Pe Ditun-dini Adiali Ayagitam, announced this during the annual Fao festival of the Chiefs and people. GBC
