Strategic plan to effect continuous supply of subsidised fertilizer ongoing - MOFA Farmers have continuously complained about the high cost of fertilizers although government says it has subsidised it. According to the farmers, the subsidies have not reflected although the budget makes provisions for it. The Director of statistics and Research at the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, Harrison Opoku who confirmed that he has heard about the complaints, said the ministry is unable to effect the subsidies because of a number of challenges, paramount is the outstanding debts the ministry owes the fertilizer suppliers. Mr Opoku however said the ministry has paid part of the debt and is making frantic efforts to settle the rest. He debunked rumours that the ministry has stopped the subsidy and said the ministry is putting together a strategic plan to effect the continuous supply of subsidised fertilizer. Source: GBC
