Media urged to consider community journalism The Founder of the Center for Media Analysis, Dr Messan Mawugbe, has entreated the mass media to report on critical issues that borders on the interest of the public, hence the need for journalists to promote participatory social change through community journalism. He said because of commercialization of news content, it has become quite challenging for media organizations to focus its attention on issues pertaining to communities. Whilst encouraging the media to revisit community journalism as a way of ensuring social change, he urged media owners to live beyond profit and consider the communities as a vital component of the environment they operate. He spoke with Radio Ghana's Upper East Regional Correspondent Isaac Asare first on his assessment on the performance of the media as far as community journalism is concerned. GBC
