EU applauds Ghana's leading role in fight against Ebola The European Union has described Ghana's numerous initiatives as leader of ECOWAS in the fight against Ebola as bold and must be applauded. The newly appointed head of the Union to Ghana, William Hanna said the EU is committing 500 million euros, a chunk of which will be directed to ECOWAS to assist the three most affected Ebola countries. Mr. Hanna, who was interacting with the media for the first time since his appointment, acknowledges the risk Ghana is taking as a lead campaigner to fight the disease but was optimistic that Ghana will be given a pat on the shoulder as a truly patriotic nation that shares the pain of others.
