Government charged to curb increasing female dropout rate in secondary and tertiary schools

The UN says government must act fast to deal with the increasing cases of female drop out at the secondary and tertiary levels. 

According to a senior UN representative, Wolgan Haas, research by the world body has shown that as students climb the educational ladder, more females drop out, such that at the tertiary level, the number of males is twice that of females. 

Mr Haas was speaking at a news conference to mark the 69th UN Day celebration. 

This year's celebration is on global citizens and how to empower the youth to contribute to nation building.
