Government welcomes Auditor-General's decision to audit CHRAJ's financial operations

Government has accepted the decision by the Auditor General to audit the financial mismanagement at the CHRAJ Office. 

This comes in the wake of a rehabilitation of the commissioner’s residence and what it seem as a waste of public fund. 

Radio Ghana spoke to some political parties on their views on the audit of CHRAJ. 

First, the general secretary of the PNC Bernard Mornah welcomes the probe but asked the auditor general to go a step further to look at transfers of officials such as chief directors who go on transfers and put up in hotels. 

He also asked Government to ensure the reports from the Auditor General are implemented but not left on the shelves to gather dust. 

Meanwhile, a member of the National Executive Committee of the NDC, Osei Piesie Anto, says if government will continue on this path, Ghana will change for the better. 

He said as government functionaries, they must leave up to the tenets of good governance and management. 

He added that a country without discipline cannot develop. 

In a related development, a member of the NPP, Kwamena Longdon, says the situation should not have gone to this level if steps had been taken to prevent this kind of development. 

He welcomed government decision on the audit as worthwhile.
