Osu Demolition exercise Put on hold as MMDAS asked to seek approval

The Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development has asked the AMA to hold on to its intended demolition of about 300 homes in Osu.

It says they must seek permission before embarking on any demolition.

It would be recalled the AMA last week gave about two thousand residents in Osu Klottey up to last Friday to leave the area to pave the way for the Assembly to demolish their structures.

The residents most of whom are fishermen and artisans threatened to resist the exercise.

Earlier a statement signed by the Minister of Local government Julius Debrah asked all MMDAS to seek approval first in any demolition exercise or be dealt with accordingly.

In an interview with Radio Ghana Mr. Debrah, said the residents deserve to be given some time to find alternative homes.
