AMA embarks on clean-up exercise

Some markets in Accra on Thursday came to a halt for the scheduled clean-up exercise by the AMA. 

At about 9:30am most traders within markets like Tudu, Okaishie, Makola and Agbogbloshie were seen distilling gutters and sweeping their environments. 

Food vending was almost absent to make way for the clean-up. 

Addressing the market women, the Mayor of Accra, Alfred Okoe Vanderpuije said it is about time issues of sanitation became a shared responsibility as an unhygienic environment impacts an entire society.
