Surajdeen Protests Outcome of NDC Wa East Constituency Elections Held on Aug.17 

A contestant in Wa East Constituency conference of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Adam Basuglo Surajdeen is protesting the outcome of the elections of the constituency which was held on the 17 of this month at Funsi, the district capital. 

A petition signed by Mr Surajdeen in Wa claimed about two hundred delegates were denied the right to vote, an act which he said is in breach of article 16 clause four of the party’s constitution. 

He alleged that when voting ended many of the contestants and delegates did not know until the police surrounded the place and counting started. 

He said contestants were asked to send agents for the counting only after they protested. 

Mr Surajdeen who contested for the position of Secretaryship in the elections and lost further claimed that the newly elected Women and Youth Organizers did not vote. He said these lapses made the elections incredible, illegal and fraudulent. 

The contestant said a petition to the regional executives of the party to re-run the elections in the constituency fell on death ears. 

He is therefore appealing to the General Secretary of the NDC Johnson Aseidu Nkatia to a null the results and called for a re-run of elections in the constituency.
