Ghana still grappling with basic environmental challenges

Ghana is still grappling with basic environmental challenges such as lack of drains, sewage systems and solid waste disposal. 

More than twenty percent of the population still have no access to basic sanitation facilities like toilets, a situation which has resulted in over five million people openly defecating daily into drains, dump sites and the beaches.

This if not checked, has the potential to cause an epidemic and also undermine the country's tourism development efforts.
